Maryland 5 Million Trees Program is a statewide initiative led by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Maryland Department of the Environment to plant five million native trees by 2031. The program supports cleaner water, healthier communities, and climate resilience by expanding tree canopy across urban and rural landscapes—especially in areas that need it most. Go Wild for Wildlife Campaign in Middletown

Once upon a time—in a patchwork of meadows, forests, and backyard gardens—wildlife was quietly disappearing. The songbirds grew softer, the bees fewer, the bats barely seen at dusk. The world didn’t mean to stop noticing; it just got louder, busier, and more disconnected. The loss wasn’t always obvious, but it was real.

So we decided to do something about it. The Go Wild for Wildlife campaign was born. 

This isn’t just about “saving” wildlife—it’s about falling back in love with the world around us and asking the questions – What if we made space again? What if we welcomed the wild home?

To Go Wild for Wildlife means saying yes—to biodiversity, to beauty, to balance. It means offering a home to the creatures who’ve always offered something to us: pollination, pest control, song, and wonder. It means giving our wild neighbors a fighting chance. Not just in theory, but in practice—on the ground, in our yards, schoolyards, public spaces, and communities.

Ways to Go Wild:

1. Join us at the Go Wild for Wildlife 2026 Event on Endangered Species Day on May 15 (Rain Date: May 16) at The REED Center. FREE TO ATTEND

2. SPONSOR a wildlife habitat and receive a FREE T-SHIRT featuring your chosen animal. Every habitat will be donated to the Middletown Green Team and installed on public land or if you are a Middletown resident, you can opt to install the habitat of your own yard or neighborhood.
